Terroir

This wine comes from a plot located near the village of Saint Victor La Coste, on the right bank of the Rhône. The vinyeard is planted on North facing hilllsides, the most exposed to the wind. The soils are predominantly sandy-clay mixed with layers of rolled pebbles. A thick forest surrounds the plot and makes a natural border.

Varietals

Grenache 60 to 80% depending on the vintage. Syrah 40 to 20%. The vines are 30 years old.

Winemaking

Yields are around 30hl/ha. The harvest is partially destemmed and each grape variety is vinified separately in cement vats using natural yeasts. No oak ageing.

Why "Odyssée" ?

The cuvée gets its name from Jean Duseigneur's odyssey, who left his homeland on the other side of the Mediterranean Sea to create the Domaine Duseigneur in 1967.

ReviEW

The 2018 Côtes du Rhône Odyssée is terrific. A blend of 60% of Grenache and 40% of Syrah, brought up in concrete tanks, its medium ruby/purple colour is followed by elegant notes of black raspberries, spring flowers, pepper and spice. Elegant, medium-bodied, polished, and alreay delicious, drink over the 4-5 coming years.
